On Wednesday evening August 19^th 2009 the first call came in, we have been working on it during that evening and were on standby that night.

The next morning Frank was on the phone with carriers, charter parties, Svitzer, trucking companies etc..

Consult, meetings, deadlines and what all, needed to be taken in account.

The challenge for Svitzer Salvage was a vessel that had run on a reef near Santa Dominica, Dominican Republic in the Caribbean. The m/v Harms had to be brought afloat before the next big storm would arrive.

Should we take the option to depart from Maastricht or Ostend or an airport somewhere in France?

Would Svitzer need 15 tons of equipment or close to 40 tons, a considerable difference in cost. In addition the weather forecast predicted another storm in the Caribbean, Svitzer has to move fast.

Airline authorities, customs, trucking, flight details all has to be arranged in a short period of time. This is a nice challenge in these slow and less exciting times both for Svitzer as well as Cyber Freight.

We also enjoy it because it means new and great exposure for Svitzer Salvage.

Now it is Thursday evening, the schedule is departing Friday evening 00.00 hours ex Vatry, France.

The trucks were loaded professionally during the night of Thursday and Friday and arrived safely at the airport of departure Vatry, East of Paris.

Friday August 14^th,   01.00 hour,  a DC10 departed from Vatry in France to Santo Domingo and arrived Saturday morning. The salvage equipment was quickly unloaded and moved to the site. Sunday afternoon/evening the ship was freed and the mission completed.
